Interesting Wheeling

Just another WordPress.com weblog

What is Interesting Wheeling?

Wheeling, WV was one of the most important cities in the US for much of the 1800s, creating new industries and becoming a transportation hub for westward expansion. During the 1900s the city slowly lost businesses and population, but retained its historic feel and quirky character which make it a fascinating place to explore in the 2000s. The purpose of this blog is to provide information about interesting Wheeling places, events and people, from the distant past to today.

I hope you will want to contribute to Interesting Wheeling. You can comment on any existing article (see comment option at the botton of each), or send articles, corrections, photos and other contributions to zaneman.wheeling@yahoo.com

I use the name ZaneMan in honor of Wheeling’s founder, Colonel Ebenezer Zane, and in recognition of my interest in local history.
